Overthinking a Blog Post About Overthinking? Well Obviously.

Overthinking a Blog Post About Overthinking? Well Obviously.
🤯 Step One: Panic
Ah, the first blog post. So much potential, so much pressure.
Notes:
*Who am I even writing this for?
*What if it’s too honest? What if it feels fake?
*Will people think I’m being to deep? Or worse, too superficial?
🤓 Step Two: Analysis Paralysis
Should I start with a revelation from my past, "... and this is how my life changed"? Or a witty anecdote? A deep philosophical question? Because I'm good at those, you know, when I'm in the mood for displacement thinking. The sheer weight of *possibility* nearly made me abandon ship before even touching the keyboard. As an overthinker by nature, my mind went into overdrive in ways I hadn’t experienced in a while.
Spoiler alert: Overthinking your first blog post about overthinking is an overthinker’s rite of passage. ✌
🏆 Step Three: The Breakthrough
Quite quickly, I realised I would have to walk the walk I talk. I clearly needed to do my own express reset exercise. The truth is, writing—like life—is messy, imperfect, and never quite what we planned. And if you’re reading this, you probably know that overthinking doesn’t help. It just adds an unnecessary mental marathon to an otherwise simple task.
🔥 Step Four: The Lesson (or Something Like That)
So here’s my take. I read all but one of these things just this week on my LinkedIn feed, and the good people were right:
1. Perfection is overrated. The best things happen when we just start. Or at the very least, something happens, instead of just panic.
2. Thoughts aren’t facts. Not everything the mind conjures up deserves our full attention.
3. Action beats over-analysis. We don’t need a perfect plan, just a beginning.
4. (And my own addition here) When writing a blog post, we really should know what we want to say. No further explanation needed, right?
And with that, part 1 of 2 is out in the world. Not perfect, not overpolished, just done. Part 2 drops Monday, and—surprise—it’s not what I originally planned either. Ha!
If you’re one of us, tell us, spill the beans: what have you caught yourself overthinking? (No judgment, I promise.)
